CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UTEP softball suffered its first shutout loss this season in the series finale versus Charlotte. The 49ers completed the sweep Sunday afternoon with the 6-0 win at Daughtridge Stadium
The 49ers sprinkled six runs over six innings as they struck first in the opening frame with an RBI single by Bailey Vannoy. Charlotte went up 3-0 in the bottom of the third with an RBI-double and single. A solo shot by Cori Hoffler in the fifth extended the Niners to 4-0. A bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly in the sixth inning lifted the lead for Charlotte, 6-0.
Charlotte's pitcher, Sam Gress, limited the Miners to just three hits on the day.
